Our last meeting was extremely helpful. I was able to get some great tips about Google Docs and was reminded of how to have my class set up their folders and share settings. I am most excited about using forms in my classroom. Katie did a great job of modeling how and why to use Google Forms and I have already created a handful of forms for my own classroom. I love the ability to collect data so quickly and easily in that format. I also think it will be a huge time saver for me if I can get my kids to use the form to submit their reading log homework.
Niki gave me some great ideas about using Google presentation slides for vocabulary notes across content areas. What an awesome tool that kids can take with them anywhere they go. Say goodbye to a study guide! Also, she gave me some great resources and websites for definitions and citing sources.
I am thrilled about using Symbaloo after Randy showed me this amazing resource. What a cool tool and what an engaging way to make your favorite websites available for students and parents!
The time we had to work on our Google Site was great! Kelly and I worked on making it look and feel the way we wanted it to and inserted general information, a Google presentation and a few forms. We have a lot of work to do and know it is a work in progress, but we are very happy with its appearance now.
I am feeling a little frustrated with where my kids are at in terms of their comfort with the netbooks and their Google accounts. I know we have to go slow to go fast, but I am so excited about the resources and tools we have learned about it in class and I want to use them NOW! Patience.... :-)
